The plastic arts materialize a representation of reality or an imaginary vision. The creation process includes the search for materials and techniques that allow the artist to have his intention faithfully reflected in his work.

Among the different criteria that are taken care of in the creation or contemplation of a plastic work, appear the link between figure and ground, the proportions, the movement and the blueprints.

Currently, many are the countries that, within their educational systems, are committed to offering the possibility of specializing and training in this area that concerns us. Thus, for example, in Madrid we find the fact that interested parties are offered the possibility of carrying out Plastic Arts and Design Studies.

The title of Technician is the one that will be obtained by those completing this training cycle in which they will acquire the necessary knowledge and skills in areas such as artistic trades, conservation and restoration of what are cultural assets, applied arts or design in all its variants and facets.

So important is the area of ​​Plastic Arts today that there are various awards that recognize its professionals. Thus, among the most significant awards are the Velázquez Prize for Plastic Arts or the National Prize for Plastic Arts of Spain.

One of the most recognized plastic arts is the painting. This art consists of the use of pigments and other substances to achieve a graphic representation on a canvas or similar material.

Within this field throughout history there have been great geniuses such as Picasso, Leonardo da Vinci, Velázquez, Goya, Rembrandt, Van Gogh, Monet, Albrecht Dürer, Rafael or Caravaggio.

The sculpture It is the art of modeling or carving of various materials, such as stone, wood or clay. These works are three-dimensional pieces dedicated to all kinds of figures.

In the field of sculpture, great artists such as Michelangelo, Rodin, Bernini and Chillida have stood out.
