What is hyperinflation?<\/h2>\n

Hyperinflation is a type of inflation that consists of the massive increase in prices, during a certain period of time<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Is occurs when inflation is very high in a short period of time<\/strong>. At the same time that it happens, said currency loses its real value and therefore monetary patrimony is lost<\/strong> of people.<\/p>\n

Various economists and international standards state that once inflation exceeds 50% monthly or 100% annually,<\/strong> it is considered hyperinflation.<\/p>\n

Causes of hyperinflation<\/h2>\n

The main causes that produce hyperinflation in an economy are the following:<\/p>\n

  • The excess money supply, that is, a massive increase in the amount of money in circulation<\/strong>, which is not compatible with the growth of the production of goods and services.<\/li>\n
  • Accumulation of public debt<\/strong> from a country.<\/li>\n
  • Spontaneous devaluation.<\/li>\n
  • Spontaneous drop in savings<\/strong> of people.<\/li>\n
  • A extreme political context<\/strong>, such as a war or an economic crisis.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    Examples of hyperinflation in countries<\/h2>\n

    • In 2015, Venezuela <\/strong>recorded inflation of more than 9000% per annum<\/strong>, which is considered as hyperinflation.<\/li>\n
    • Between the years 1982 and 1985, Bolivia<\/strong> it reached an inflation of more than 150% per month and 8000% per annum<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
    • At the end of the 18th century, during the French Revolution, France <\/strong>recorded inflation of more than 300% monthly<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n\n\n
