The verb<\/strong> appeal<\/strong> comes from appell\u0101re<\/em>, a Latin word that can be translated as \"to call\"<\/strong>. The concept is used to name the action of turn to a person or entity<\/strong> who, because of his wisdom, his discernment, or his authority, is in a position to solve or resolve an issue<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\"Appeal\"For example: \"I am going to appeal to the president of the company to see if he can help me with this problem\"<\/em>, \"I do not have to appeal to anyone, I can resolve the issue on my own\"<\/em>, \"If the government does not reverse its decision, we will appeal to human rights organizations\"<\/em>.<\/p>\n

The most common use of the notion is in the judicial field. Appeal, in this framework, implies going to a court<\/strong> or yet judge<\/strong> from higher instance<\/strong> to reverse a decision made by a lower stratum.<\/p>\n

Appeal is a procedural appeal<\/strong> which intends for the higher court to rectify a judgment of a lower one, always acting in accordance with the provisions of the laws<\/strong>. The appeal appears when one of the parties to a dispute does not agree with the decision of a court or judge. Faced with this situation, it decides to appeal to a higher body to review the ruling and, if it finds any flaw, it is responsible for correcting it with a new sentence. When it is no longer possible to appeal, it is said that the sentence remains firm<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

In the same way, we cannot ignore that, within what is logic, a term or expression is used that includes the verb that now occupies us. We are referring to appealing to the emotions.<\/p>\n

This expression we have to expose that it is a fallacy (an argument that seems valid but is not) with which it is intended to try to manipulate the emotions of the person in front of it. In this way, that resource is chosen instead of using a real and true, valid argument, in order to hide something.<\/p>\n

Furthermore, we cannot forget that there are several types of fallacy that use the verb at hand. Specifically, among them we can highlight:
-To appeal to the ridiculous, which consists of exposing the arguments of the other person as ridiculous.
- Appeal to the consequences. It is basically about being able to answer the argument of another person making use of the exposure of the negative or positive consequences that that person may have.
-To appeal to fear. Within the field of logic, this fallacy is used on numerous occasions, which consists of making use of lies and deception to support an argument or position. Basically what is sought when undertaking this is to increase the fear and prejudice of the person to whom the aforementioned is directed. An example of this would be the following sentence: \"If you don't act properly now, then it will be too late.\" <\/p>\n

The idea<\/strong> to appeal is also used, in a broad sense, as a synonym for invoke<\/strong> or from to sue<\/strong>: \"The president tried to appeal to the emotions of the citizens by asking for their support\"<\/em>, \"The official candidate seeks to appeal to fear so that people continue to support his political project\"<\/em>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n
